Climate change has become one of the greatest environmental, social and economic threats facing the universe now. Every institution is committed and working constructively for a global agreement to find solution to this global challenge.
In this wise, the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology has taken steps to research into the issue in a collaboration with German entity led by Dr. Paul Fleck, who have visited the KNUST recently.
Stating their mission, Dr. Fleck said that the delegation had come to investigate how the University could assist in the research programme.He stated that they have had series of political discussions with policy makers in terms of how they could support the move to find solutions to this global problem.
Briefing the Vice Chancellor, he outlined the structures they have put in place to run the programme. Ouagadougou, the capital of Burkina Faso was tentatively selected as a site for the research.
He said, his team would work with the university to build capacity in the region that would feed young people into the institution. He highlighted on the benefit to be derived from the project such that it would bring African Scientists to a level that they could work together with facilities and support from the German government.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Adarkwa was extremely excited about the project. He said that, the University would provide its support towards the successful implementation of the initiative.
